Challenging activities are a necessary component that aid in youth development. Challenging means that participants stretch beyond their current range of knowledge and skills and have opportunities to test and master their skills in the real world. Activities that tap into young people’s natural curiosity and interest in discovery will motivate, rather than discourage, their eagerness to learn physical, intellectual, psychological, emotional and social skills.

Real English Training.

December 8th, 2009  |  Published in Real International

“Real” kids speak and read english very well, its real…
They follow intense training, using group pressure to function individually and also as a team keeping a high tempo and keeping it fun, this was some of todays training..

This video is a good example of the kind of pressure we put on our students on a day to day basis, as you can see our students love this pressure and are very hungry to learn, we believe they are within the elite for their age group (2-6year olds) for speaking english as a second language in Japan.

Shinshiro Riverbank

November 20th, 2009  |  Published in Real International

This week we went to Shinshiro River. Shinshiro is a very beautiful place the air is cleaner than Toyohashi, and running around in the warm sunshine was very fun. We tried to cross a shallow part of the river, there were many rocks to try to hop across, although the girls carefully managed to keep their feet fairly dry. The boys rushed across and all got wet.
After lunch we made a fire to dry our clothes. This was a good chance to explain about fire safety, and explain reasons why we say “dont play with matches or lighters”. After we had finished with the fire we made she it was properly extinguished. Continue reading →

Autumn is here…

October 19th, 2009  |  Published in Real International

I often feel sad at the change of seasons because it reminds me that life is passing by, we are all growing older and changing which unfortunately in life means moving on too.. 2 more seasons (half a year) and Ayumu, Nina, Shuhei and Saya
will be moving on to elementary school. Of course Im happy to see them grow and progress through life, but at the same time..
I know I will be very sad not to see them everyday. Feeling autumn`s cool wind in the air and smelling the Osmanthus(金木犀) means one thing for me and that is that we need to have fun, more fun the the last 2 seasons and fit in as many special memories as we can in the short time that we have left together.. Today we went skateboarding at Atsumi park, Nina and Saya tried very hard and skated non-stop until lunch. In the park there were many kinds of nuts, chestnuts and seeds, everyone enjoyed to gather them.. Just like a pack of squirrels. Today was the first time I really felt autumn was in the air. We Love Toyohashi Zoo

September 14th, 2009  |  Published in Real International

Another friday spent at the zoo, what fun we have everytime, although a day is never enough to go around the whole Zoo. Today we spent alot of time around the monkey area, as there was a new born baby monkey so small and cute, it looked just like a little alien. Shuhei hugged a monkey at the bottom of the monkey deck. I dont think we were supposed to go there but what a great experience…

Today we went to Hamanako Beach, on the way we stopped at Arai Beach for a Snack and Drink Break . Ashi, Shin and Shuhei jumped off of a very high wall I think its over 2 metres high I dont think many children their age can do this.
When we arrived at the beach everybody enjoyed collecting the beautiful shells and playing in the warm ocean water.

Today Aito, Leon and Shu joined us on our first trip to the slide pool in shizuoka. It was so much fun racing on the slides, and playing tag in the flow pool. The weather was hot and the pool water felt so great. On the way home everybody fell to sleep satified with too much sun and excitement. I hope we can go back again soon.
